Submit your science for the ERS Lung Science Conference 2024

The value of submitting your abstract for the LSC - from a presenter and award winner at the LSC 2023

With abstract submission open for the 22nd ERS Lung Science Conference (LSC), we hear from Dr Pauline Bardin, an award winner and presenter at the 2023 event about why you should submit your abstract for the Lung Science Conference.

Pauline was a joint winner of the William MacNee Award in the Young Investigator Session at the LSC 2023. She said that her experience of this year’s event helped her to gain important recognition for her work. Pauline said:

“Participating for the first time in person at the Lung Science Conference 2023 and having the honour of winning the William MacNee award at the Young Investigator session enabled me to make a name for myself among my peers present at the conference.

“It helped me to gain recognition for the work carried out as part of my ERS RESPIRE4 Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship.

“Having the opportunity to present, whether orally or by poster, at LSC 2024 is an incredible chance to spend a few days at a conference that brings together the best scientists in their fields with young researchers.”

Pauline also spoke highly of the networking opportunities provided by the ERS Lung Science Conference.

“This conference gives the opportunity to present research results, but also to establish new connections for professional networks and potential future collaborations, which will help develop your future career,” said Pauline.

“The idea of this conference is to promote scientific research, but also translational research, and is a perfect illustration of the bridge that can be built between research and patients.

“I’m looking forward to taking part in this conference again, and I hope to see even more young researchers get involved for the 2024 edition which focuses on the development of chronic lung diseases: from life-spanning mechanisms to preventive therapy.”

ERS Conference and Research Seminars Director, Prof. Silke Meiners, agreed with Pauline and joined the call for abstracts for LSC 2024. Silke said:

“The LSC is a wonderful place to submit your best science to. You have the opportunity to present your science as a poster and we also select certain abstracts for oral presentations. We have lots of early career members and we tend to provide a lot of bursaries.

“I would also add that if you have something linked to the theme of the Conference, you will really benefit from having the right people around you, so I would invite anyone who has great scientific work to submit an abstract to the LSC.”
